JD Takeaway has encountered some challenges recently, especially the dissatisfaction from its rider group has begun to surface on social media. Riders criticized JD.com’s dispatch system, running time, system operation and fine policy, which not only affected their work efficiency, but also negatively affected their income.
The protection period for novice JD takeaway is up.
In response to JD.com’s takeaway, there are gradually some different voices on social media.
The first to start talking about JD.com was the rider group, especially crowdsourced riders.
It mainly focuses on several issues.
First, the dispatch system is unreasonable.
JD.com’s takeaway delivery is currently in several modes: full-time, resident, business district and crowdsourcing, and full-time is JD.com’s full-time rider. The store and business district are done by third-party contractors. In the crowdsourcing, it is divided into part-time and Dada rider teams.
How can product managers do a good job in B-end digitalization?
All walks of life have taken advantage of the ride-hail of digital transformation and achieved the rapid development of the industry. Since B-end products are products that provide services for enterprises, how should enterprises ride the digital ride?

Compared with Meituan takeaway, JD.com is full-time similar to Meituan’s special delivery. The store and business district are similar to Meituan. The Dada team is similar to Meituan Le Run.
However, many crowdsourcing riders have said on social media that the current dispatch rules of JD.com takeaway are not friendly to crowdsourcing riders. Even during the peak delivery period, there are not many orders in the order receiving hall.
Because JD.com’s takeaway delivery priority is business district, resident, full-time, squad, and part-time. Personal part-time jobs are at the bottom of the ecological chain.
This creates a problem.
For good orders, riders in the upstream of the ecological chain can see the order in advance, and would rather press the order than release it. If you really can’t send it, it will be released downstream. Even if the downstream part-time riders receive orders, they are also commercial and residential properties that are particularly difficult to wait for elevators, or hospitals and old communities.
And according to the rules of JD.com’s order taking system, if several riders grab the same order in the order receiving hall, they will be matched to the new rider first.
At present, JD.com’s new riders have a 15-day novice protection period, and many part-time riders will return to Meituan and Ele.me as soon as the protection period expires.
Second, the time for running orders is unreasonable.
JD Takeaway has restrictions on arrival time, pick-up time, and delivery time. The time limit is stricter than that of Meituan and Ele.me. Some order riders may only take 5-8 minutes to pick up their meal at the store.
This leads to a limited number of orders that riders can “carry” at the same time. And there is a possibility of timeout. Indirectly affect revenue.
A senior rider revealed that Meituan and Ele.me had similar time limits in the early days. But later it was found that it was not practical, so this restriction was lifted.
Third, the system is not easy to use.
The most complained by riders is that the positioning of the JD.com system is inaccurate. Many positions will deviate by a few hundred meters, and some even deviate by more than 1 kilometer. Moreover, there are no details and photos of merchants in the system, which is quite unfriendly to unskilled workers who do not understand the surrounding environment of the order.
And the app is cumbersome to operate. Just the link of “food delivery arrives”, the rider needs to operate 5 or 6 steps such as taking photos, which is a waste of time.
Fourth, the fine is serious.
At present, all orders that exceed the time of more than 20 minutes of JD Takeaway are free of charge. The cost of free orders is borne by the platform.
But riders who timed out also face penalties.
According to the training materials of Dada Miao riders, if the time specified by the system exceeds the time specified by the system, 20% of the delivery fee and 4 service points will be deducted; If the delivery exceeds the time specified by the system, 4 service points will be deducted. and 15% of the delivery fee will be deducted within 5 minutes, 30% will be deducted from 5 minutes to 20 minutes, and 50% will be deducted for more than 20 minutes.
If the service score is below 80 points, the rider will not be able to take the order. At present, the rider’s starting service score is 100 points, which means that the rider can overtime up to 5 orders. If the score is deducted, it will be retrained.
In addition, some riders said that the social security rules of JD.com’s full-time riders are also quietly changing.
JD.com previously said that “the company bears the personal social security part”, but now it has become “the personal part is borne by the company for a certain period of time”. As for how long “a certain time” is, it has not been publicly disclosed at present.
A full-time rider of JD.com told the media that JD.com did bear all the costs of five insurances and one housing fund, a total of about 2,500 yuan. But the provident fund is too small, and according to the minimum wage standard, the company has paid more than 120 yuan.
There are also some merchant groups that have begun to question JD.com.
The main contradiction between the two sides is that there have been media reports that “JD.com’s 10 billion subsidy requires merchants to bear 50% of the cost”.
Subsequently, JD.com refuted the rumors: “The relevant information is malicious rumors, the platform has never set a mandatory sharing ratio, and all cooperation is based on the principle of merchant voluntariness.” ”
As a result, many merchants began to refute the rumors on social media. Judging from some of the screenshots of the order, the platform’s “activity expenditure” is very high. Some even exceed 40% and 50%. But it doesn’t seem to be the norm.
However, some merchants said that at present, JD.com’s takeaway activities have not been exposed at all. Moreover, the involution of tens of billions of subsidies is serious, and peers have issued coupons, forcing many merchants to follow up and issue coupons.
In response to this information, JD.com has not yet made any new actions to refute rumors.
However, some riders believe that JD.com is not without advantages at present, such as the unit price is still higher than that of Ele.me and Meituan. There are many orders for milk tea and coffee, and the food is served quickly.
However, with the emergence of a large number of combination orders of milk tea and coffee shops, this part of JD.com’s advantages has gradually been diluted.
Merchants and riders have also slowly emerged a trend of “subsidies stop, feelings return to zero” for JD.com’s takeaway.
