My “Product Efficiency Revolution” ———— a deep collaboration with Logi MX keyboards and mice

As a veteran with more than ten years of product experience, I have led a team to operate C-end products with tens of millions of DAUs, and have successfully created many popular applications from 0 to 1. Now participating in enterprise AI training has helped more than a dozen enterprises complete the transformation of business productization and product AI. In this process, I have always adhered to the ultimate pursuit of “product efficiency” and firmly believed in a concept:

The ultimate mission of the product is to turn chaotic operations into orderly SOPs and inefficient behaviors into reusable processes

However, unfortunately, when I return to my daily work, I often fall into some inefficient whirlpools. In the process of delivering product solutions to enterprises, I have to jump back and forth between multiple systems every day, frequently interrupting and repeating operations, to be honest, I empathize with the pain of efficiency.

I still remember one afternoon a few years ago, I was immersed in the flow of drawing prototypes and conceptualizing functional logic with Axure, and I was tackling an interactive problem, and suddenly a pop-up window popped up: “Everyone will join the meeting immediately!” The boss wants to see the plan! ”。 I had no choice but to hurriedly archive and close the software, only to forget which folder the “unnamed _FINAL” is in. When it was my turn to share the screen in the meeting, I accidentally touched the browser’s historical download record, and the words “Avengers 4.mp4” popped up on the screen, causing everyone in the conference room to be awkwardly silent, and even more desperate, when the CTO asked me why there was a fault in the user path, I suddenly realized that the flowchart I demonstrated turned out to be a scrap draft from three days ago.

There are countless similar scenes –

  • To prepare a requirements review, you need to repeatedly operate between multiple tools, drawing prototypes, exporting, taking screenshots, copying, pasting, and writing documents.
  • When recording classes for enterprises, you have to manually open the screen recording software→ adjust the microphone→ start screen recording→ hide the taskbar→ and notify these operations.

I often laugh at myself, obviously we designed a “one-click release” process for users, but as a result, I have to “start in ten steps” every day, which is simply a great irony of product professionalism.

Until I came across the combination of Logi MX MECHANICAL + Master 3S.

By chance, I tried Logitech’s MX series keyboard and mouse to understand what it means to be “a real productivity tool for high-frequency office”.

With the help of Logi Options+, I have opened my “Quick Workflow for Product Managers”, allowing me to open up various shortcuts in the chaotic office flow like the morning rush hour, and efficiently implement the scheduling system for various scenarios.

Logi Options+ software interface

Logi Options+ allows me to deeply customize the six shortcuts of the mouse (Master 3S) and more than twenty custom keys of the keyboard (MX MECHANICAL), from the thumb wheel (landscape wheel), gesture buttons, forward/backward side buttons, to the F-zone key and the top bar smart key, each of which can define its own actions, and even configure key combinations.

Master 3S and custom key schematics

In addition to the custom functions of the keyboard and mouse, you can also set these custom buttons to specific operations according to your own gesture habits, frequency of use and work and entertainment needs, such as taking screenshots, adjusting the volume and other common operations, as well as waking up the Logitech AI dispatch desk and quickly linking AI large model products such as bean bags and Baidu with one click.

Even better, Logi Options+Smart ActionsThe scenario-based automatic operation function allows me to design my own one-click workflow just like designing a product interaction process!

I will briefly share three Smart Actions configurations I created to solve the high-frequency work pain points of product managers:

Scenario 1: Product creation mode, one-click flow into the heart.

Product Creation Mode Smart Actions settings screen

To wake up the Product Creation Mode Smart Actions, simply click the Forward button and Master 3S will automatically perform the following actions:

  1. Automatically launch Axure (app) and PRD Word templates, prepare prototype source files to edit, and compose PRD documents.
  2. Automatic system mute (invoking system commands via Smart Actions) ensures that you are not disturbed by other software notification tones.
  3. Open the prototype preview webpage (Chrome prototype preview page) to quickly preview the modified prototype page.
  4. Call the product prototype drawing material site (https://iconfont.cn/), supplement the page material icon at any time.

The results of this model were immediate, and I was able to reduce my product design time from 1.5 hours to 40 minutes, and my sense of focus soared.

Scenario 2: Meeting communication mode, from passive participation to rhythm control.

This “meeting mode” is triggered by a Mechanical keyboard shortcut that automates the following workflows with each click of the ctrl+m key combination:

  1. Automatic launch of meeting software: Start and put Tencent meeting in the foreground, mute the microphone, and prepare to access the meeting.
  2. Open Evernote and prepare to record meeting minutes.
  3. Open the Doubao AI client to monitor meeting speeches, convert text in real time, and automatically generate meeting minutes.
  4. WeChat automatically logs out to avoid being disturbed by private messages.

Entering the meeting in 1 second and completing the meeting minutes in 5 minutes is now the highlight of my efficiency output.

Scenario C: Tutorial recording mode, scroll and press to start broadcasting with one click.

Schematic diagram of Tutorial Mode Smart Actions

After setting up the “Tutorial Mode” Smart Actions, whenever I want to start recording a lesson, I only need to press down on the scroll wheel to automatically finish the run:

  1. Open Bandicam screen recorder.
  2. Microphone unmute.
  3. Open the courseware PPT.
  4. The speaker is automatically muted.

Each action is a step that I have repeatedly performed, and now it is done with one click, which really makes “preparing to record” a non-inductive start, and now this mode is a must-have for me every time I prepare for a lesson.

I think that any position to achieve a professional level is to create its own “efficiency system” and turn the workbench into an insensitive “assembly line”. If we were just using tools in the past, then the Logi MX series with Logi Options+ and Smart Actions will give me the thrill of “building my own operating system” for the first time. The process is like designing a top-notch product, constantly optimizing my keyboard and mouse combinations to find the smoothest rhythm for product managers in their work. It can be described as:

A best-in-class tool that is not complex, but allows you to focus on what you do.

The real master is not fast, but knows how to save unnecessary steps.

Finally, at the end of the article, I attached the network disk links of the three sets of Smart Actions configuration files mentioned in the article, friends in need are welcome to pick it up, if you have also made a “magic change”, remember to come to the comment area to share your efficiency cheats together!
